Hackling with top-quality ostrich feathers produces flies that swim in a way that they look like they would bite off the tippet and swim away on their own. Ostrich feathers can be used in many ways; these small feathers are also ideal for the "Butterflies" design, where the feather is tied in whole, flat over the body.
