Founded in 2008 by Rene Vaz and his wife, Primal Rod Company began in a garage outside Auckland. Rene, a passionate fly fisher, became the youngest member of New Zealand’s national fly fishing team in 1999. His dedication to chasing dream fish, fishing in magical destinations, and his love for the craft have been pivotal in developing Primal fly rods. Primal’s rod series cater to everything from light dry fly fishing to heavy tropical fishing.
